Walking in the Truth
Colossians 2:6-10. Whenever life isn’t working for you the best thing you can do is return to the basics.
Whenever life is threatening to overwhelm you…return to the basics. We lose the power of victorious Christian living when we forget the basics.
And here is the primary basic:-‘You have received fullness in Christ’.- I don’t care if you are the lowest of all believers;- I don’t care if you have never had a dramatic encounter with God;
- I don’t care if you have never been healed or prayed for someone who was healed , the fact is the day you received Jesus Christ, His divine power has given you everything you need pertaining to life and godliness. 2: Peter 1:3
When you received Jesus Christ – His spirit of life came into you and you got the lot.
‘You have received fullness in Christ’ so anything you attempt to add to that is ‘self-righteousness’.
Heb 4:16 tells us it’s because of the blood of Jesus that we can now come boldly into God’s presence.
- No amount of prayer, bible study, witnessing or worship can make you anymore acceptable to God than you are right now by the blood of Jesus.
- The Christian faith is not you working for anything – it’s you working from everything already done for you in Christ.
Lots of people have got the wrong idea about how the power of truth becomes real in their lives.
They see truth as this ‘one-time fix’ deal, sort of like a pill you only have to take once and the effects will never wear off.
- But the bible doesn’t present truth like a pill but a ‘pathway’.
- “He will teach us His ways and we will walk in His paths.” Isaiah 2:3
Truth is consistent – its power doesn’t turn on and off like a light switch.
- If truth can set you free for 5 minutes it can set you free for a lifetime….Truth only needs one thing in order to consistently display its power to you….truth needs you to choose to walk in the way that it presents to you.
“This is what the Lord says, ‘Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths….ask where the good way is and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls”.Jeremiah 6:16Truth is a pathway that gives its benefit only to those who stay on it.
The power of truth doesn’t wear off – we wander off from it - and if we want a new beginning we have to return to its path.
