Lifting Limitation
The Roar of Faith 1 Samuel 17: 41 –47
As we seek to advance the cause of Christ and break free from limitations the enemy will send out Goliath to stop you
The truth is ,whether we realize it or not, we all face the Goliath spirit on an on-going basis
The major weapon the enemy used to effectively shut down the advance of God’s people was…….intimidation….
“Who do you think you are?”
“What are these big dreams you have?”
“What are these great things you say you will do?”
What are these promises of God you are claiming?”
Designed to make us feel small – insignificant – and paralyzed with self doubt
Satan sends out Goliath to roar intimidation at you because he knows that out of your self-image you can be empowered to do great things.
He knows that the fulfilment of your destiny and purpose in life is tied to your self-image. “You can have a great destiny, but, if you don’t have the self-image that will enable you to rise up to that level, you will forfeit that destiny ”
By the time David arrived on the scene the whole of the camp of God’s people was under an atmosphere of heaviness because they had come under the influence of that intimidating spirit.
Feelings of hopelessness and heaviness have their roots in unbelief
When you let Goliath roar his intimidation at you unchecked and unchallenged , then that spirit will permiate your own and that’s why we also hear it coming out of the mouth of David’s brother ….” Who do you think you are ?”
We can’t afford to listen for long – we need to be like David and have a swift, strong, immediate response of faith
David heard Goliath intimidating roar once and within a few hours it seems he was on the battlefield roaring back these words in defiance READ vs. 45 – 47
- - I refuse to live like a unbelieving believer.
- - I am not going to say “The Lord is my Shepherd” and then live like he isn’t!!
- - I can not bear the thought of a safe , boring , preditable religious life with no manifestation of the power of God in it!
- - “The just shall live by faith” and the life of faith is an incredible adventure
