Pastor Davids Blog

Hi Everyone, Well here is my first blog for 2012 - arrived home from my Missions trip to India and Nepal last week (25/1/012).
After immersing yourself in a third world lifestyle for two weeks I struggle with answering the question ' so how was your trip?’ I have been travelling into these countries for 22 years so the romantic notions of the white guy turning up to radically impact their world has long since died.
Just knowing that I have helped and encouraged Pastors and believers is reward enough for me. At first I would find myself somehow feeling superior to these people sitting on the floor in front of me wearing their worn out clothes. However the reality check came one day when I found myself staring into the face of a man who looked remarkably similar to a successful businessman who attended my Church. For some reason this jolted me into realising the only real difference between us is the opportunities available to us simply because of where we were born. May God help us all to live grateful and do all we can with what He has given us.
I was officially told today that we now have 3016 people classified as regular attendees’ on our Church data base. Funny I have been talking about reaching this goal for years and now that we are here it feels like another day at the office!!  Somehow I expected to feel differently when we got here. Our present reality is we only tend to see just over half that number of people on a typical weekend which apparently is a national trend at the moment. So it’s a bit like musical chairs when it comes some peoples’ pattern of Church attendance but ‘Hallelujah anyway’ !!
Since Renae has moved to Los Angles we only have four of our seven children living at home at the moment so things are a bit quite. Renae is serving as a volunteer for 12 months at a rehab centre so she is off having an adventure.
Well that’s it for now.
Hugs to all,
David
